How to calculate number of bricks, cement and sand, quantity of 1 cubic meter for brick masonry .

 Number of bricks, Amout of cement & sand. 1 cubic meter for brick masonry.

DATA

Volume (length x width x height) = 1 m3

Mortar thickness = 10mm

Mortar ratio =1:6

Standard size of brick = 190mm x 90mm x 90mm

(0.19m x 0.09m x 0.09m)

Modular size of brick = (0.2m x 0.1m x 0.1m)

Number of bricks Calculation

Standard size of brick = (0.19m x 0.09m x 0.09m)

Volume = 0.001539 m3

Volume of Modular brick = (0.2m x 0.1m x 0.1m)

= 0.002cum

Number of Bricks

= Volume/Modular size of Brick

= 1 / 0.002 = 500 Bricks.

Cement calculation

Volume covered by 500 bricks in 1 cum

Volume = No's of bricks x volume of 1 bricks

500 bricks volume = 500 x 0.001539

= 0.77 cum

Volume = total volume - volume of bricks

Mortar volume = 1 - 0.77 = 0.23 cum

 ( wet volume of cement )

Dry volume of  cement = 0.23 x 1.33 = 0.306cum

(here 1.33 is constant)

Cement

Density of cement 1 cum = 1440kg;s

Cement = (dry volume x ratio x

density of cement / sum of ration)

=(0.306 x 1 x 1440) / 7 = 62.94 kg's

62.94 / 50 = 1.26 bag ( 1 bag cement = 50kg's )

Sand

= (0.306 x 6 x 35.31) / 7 (1 cum sand = 35.31 cubic feet )

= 9.26 cubic feet

Results

Bricks - 500 no's

Cement - 1.26 bags

Sand - 9.26 cubic feet
