How to Calculate Quantity of Cement, Sand, and Water in Mortar for Brick masonry.
Calculate the volume of mortar required
we can assume calculate for 1sqm and 10mm thickness of mortar,
volume of plaster = Area X Thickness of mortar
= 1 x 1 x 0.010 = 0.010 cum
Calculate the Dry volume of mortar
where wet volume is always less than dry volume
The Dry volume mortar required for plastering = 1.27
Hence, Dry volume of plaster = 1.27 x 0.010 = 0.0127 cum
The mix ratio of mortar is 1:6
= ( 1 + 6 ) = 7
quantity of Cement Required = 1/7 x 0.0127 = 0.001814 cum
quantity of Sand Required = 6/7 x 0.0127 = 0.010885 cum
We get required Quantity of materials in kg's
here, Density of cement and sand multiply with
required quantity cement and sand
Density of Cement - 1440 kg/cum
& Density of Sand - 1450 to 1600 kg/cum
we take 1500
Cement Required = 0.001814 x 1440 kg/cum = 2.61 kg's
Sand Required = 0.010885 x 1500 kg/cum = 16.32 kg ( 0.38 cft )
Water-cement Ratio - 0.45 to 0.60
we assume - 0.5
so, Water = 0.5 x 2.61 = 1.3 liters,
